1 x 2 lb / 1 kg blade steak, cut into 5 cm / 2 inch cubes
2 tsp / 10 ml beef stock powder
½ cup / 125 ml boiling water
1 x 10 oz / 280 ml tin of cream of mushroom soup
10 oz / 280 ml can of mushroom pieces or freshly chopped.
1 pkt French onion soup mix
½ – 1 cup / 125 ml – 250 ml cup of red wine.
Cooking steps
- Place beef cubes into a 6 L (6.5 quarts) slow cooker.
- Mix boiling water and beef stock powder in a large bowl.
- Add soup, mushroom pieces, soup mix, and wine; stir.
- Pour the mixture over the beef cubes.
- Cover and cook on Low for 7-9 hours or on High for 3 ½ – 4 ½ hours.
- Serve with rice, pasta, or mashed potato.
