Beef Burgundy in a Slow Cooker

Red Burgundy wine adds a rich distinctive flavor to this slow cooker recipe. The beef is cooked in bacon juices and a range of spices slow cooker style.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of chopped bacon

  • 2 pounds/ 900 g of round steak which are cut in 1 inch/ 2.5 cm cubes

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano

  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme

  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  • 1 clove of minced garlic

  • 1 crushed beef stock cube

  • 1 cup of Burgundy
     wine

  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch

Cooking steps

  • Cook the bacon in a large skillet for several minutes, then set aside.
  • Coat the beef cubes in flour and brown on all sides in the skillet.
  • Mix the browned beef, bacon pieces and juices, seasonings, garlic, crushed stock cube, and Burgundy wine in a slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on Low for 6-8 hours or until the meat is tender.
  • Dissolve the cornstarch in two tablespoons of water and mix it in to thicken the juices.
  • Cook on High for a further 15 minutes.
  • Serve!
