Basic Brown Bread Slow Cooker Recipe

Basic Brown Bread in a Slow Cooker

Brown bread isn’t just white bread with a suntan. It’s much more than that!

Also known as whole meal or whole wheat bread, brown bread is higher in fibre and nutrients compared to white bread which is made from refined flour.

In fact, research has suggested the following benefits with brown bread:

  • Reduced risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
  • Better digestion.
  • Better weight management.
  • Better with avocado.

Sounds good, right?

But there’s a gotcha…

Did you know some bread manufacturers add caramel colourings to make their bread appear darker?

It’s why it’s worth reading the ingredients of bread in your local supermarket.

As we associate the colour “brown” with healthy bread, it helps make the bread look more appealing, convincing us to buy it, even if it isn’t a truly healthy brown bread.

That’s one of the reasons it’s great to make brown bread in a slow cooker at home.

Other reasons are it’s fun, rewarding, and makes the house smell like home!
