Did you know white bread was once a status symbol?
In ancient Egypt and Rome white bread was a luxury reserved for the elite, much loved for its soft texture and ability to soak up copious amounts of wine.
These days us paupers can knock up a loaf cheap-as-chips, and it’s much easier to do these days armed with a slow cooker and a handful of ingredients.
Wine, however, still comes at a premium price (I can’t help you with that!)
When it comes to making bread in a slow cooker, white bread is one of the easiest.
If this is your first venture, it’s time to have some fun!
